Paper Bag List

In the wake of re-buying an old Matchbox Twenty album I felt it was necessary to drop in my Top 5 albums/artists/songs that cause a slight uneasiness when they show up on my ipod with other people in the car.  Here is your chance to stand tall and declare your love for things you generally don't even admit to liking.  So be brave, be bold, and admit to taking that Spice Girls promo; let it be known that you rock out to OMC.

4 comments:

  1. 1. Matchbox Twenty's entire catalog. Boy do I love me some Rob Thomas.
    2. "Gives you Hell" - All American Rejects. With a humorous video and a rockin' riff for the chorus, I can't help but enjoy this pre-summer time hit. I don't want to, but I do.
    3. Lazy Town Soundtrack. Colin and I watched this show before leaving for class during college and the songs are actually hilarious if you've got a certain sense of humor; i.e. mine or Colin's.
    4. Papa Roach's entire catalog. This band defined my teen years; full of angst and bitchy-ness I rocked out to their self-titled album more then anyone should have. I still love everything they do, even though, admittedly, they have some pretty shitty tunes.
    5. T.I. Extremely talented rapper, but gets a pretty bad rap because of the pop sensibilities in his stuff. Not really ashamed here but I think it fits because again, this is an artist I hated without knowing why. Now I do, he was beckoning me from the rap shelf, telling me I could have whatever I liked.

  3. 1. Eminem - Entire Catalog. You love him or hate him, and when I'm with people who hate him they make sure to let me know it. Apparently people don't like social angst...

    2. Lily Allen. She'll always have a place in my heart, but anyone who doesn't know me gives me that "you like dudes, don't you?" look whenever she comes up on the shuffle.

    3. Brandi Carlile. Sneaking her way into my list of favorite artists, Brandi Carlile isn't exactly something you want to pop on at a red light with the windows down and a cute girl or two in the turning lane. Mine as well get an industrial and start blogging.... wait....

    4. Cloud Cult. Seriously? All this life is beautiful crap is making me sick. Whatever makes these esurance loving hippies tick must cost a lot of money on the black market.

    5. Scissor Sisters. I feel a trend coming on, maybe the music I'm most ashamed of is the music that makes me feel the most like a woman. How does one actually watch a live DVD of that dude in a leotard and decide to tap a foot to the beat? Terrifying...

  4. Here we go...

    1. Sting - Entire catalog. Not Police Sting. SOLO Sting. "Fields of Gold" Sting. I love that shit. Synthesizers aside, Mercury Falling is one of my all time favorite albums. Johnny Cash covered "Hung My Head" for fuck's sake. But still.

    2. Robyn - Bubblegum poppy goodness. Can't explain it.

    3. Dave Matthews Band - All I can say is that every time I say I'm a fan, I find I have to explain myself.

    4. Madonna's "Don't Tell Me" - The only Madonna song I've ever wanted to hear more than once/at all.

    5. Enya - Shut up.
