Never will I actually play by the rules I establish. But I will trudge on.
Okay, time for something fun and link-able.
I want to see everyone's Top 5 favorite music videos. If you can find it on the YouTube, paste a link underneath each one so we can all revel in the glory of your favorite music.
I promise to watch every single music video you all post. Think of this as an opportunity to broaden your horizons :)
First! This one I can do. :)

1. I'm Afraid of Americans - David Bowie/NIN
ReplyDeleteI love this video so damn much. I've written about 10 different versions of this comment and keep deleting it because I can't any words to say that sum up why I love it. So, I'll just leave it at: Everything about this song kicks ass. Oh, and every copy of this I've every owned as been this same Much Music rip. I'm not sure why it further validates my putting it on this list, but it does.

2. Low Rising - Swell Season
What a beautifully shot video that wonderfully captures the mood and sentiment of the song. The piece where Marketa fills the tea pot with the rain over her head kills me. So cool.

3. The Space Between - How to Destroy Angels
More Trent Reznor. This video is so aesthetically pleasing and the fire effects kick major ass. Can't get enough Trent Reznor.

4. Treat Me Like Your Mother - Dead Weather
Apparently I really enjoy watching collaborative artists shooting each other with fake guns. Who knew?

5. Diablo Rojo - Rodrigo y Gabriela
Knowing this song is called "Devil Roller Coaster" makes the whole enterprise make sense. The song tilts and twirls with the camera angles. I love how the video just focuses on the two of them rocking out and yet seems to capture the flow of the song. Awesome video.

I have to say that if I were to do this list 10 more times I'd probably come up with 10 different lists. This was super fun to put together because it just led to watching a ton of other awesome videos that didn't make the list, but certainly made my night.
I eagerly await your selections so that I may have an excuse to do this all over again :)
So, last week I wrote up a really in-depth post for this, but blogspot decided to fuck up right as I posted it and I almost punched a hole in the wall. In short,
ReplyDeletehere are 5 videos that blew mind mind when I was at the age where music videos were amazing, bigger than life and still felt important. I also threw in one more-recent video for the hell of it.
